Clinical Study of Child Psychiatric Patients


Abstract
The author investigated for available 122 childern under 15 years old among 809 patients that visited for the first time the psychiatric outclinic of Chungnam National University Hospital from October 1, 1990 to October 31, 1991.
The results as follows£º
1. The most common living area of the child psychiatric outpatients was Taejon 78(63.4£¥), followed by Chungnam 34(27.9£¥), Chungbuk 9(7.4£¥), other area 1(1£¥). The number of visiting outpatient clinic was greater in the male (75£º61.5£¥) compared with the females(47£º38.5£¥).
2. The most common chief complaint for which the child psychiatric outpatients sought medical help was hyperactivity & inattention, followed by abnormal behavior & abnormal habits, language problem, seizure, headache, interpersonal problem, anxiety & depression, chest discomfort, hair pulling, bed wetting, developmental problems, nervousness, masturbation.
3. The most frequently encountered disease entity was attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, followed by epilepsy, anxiety & depression, mental retardation, autistic disorder, specfic developmental disorder, tit enuresis, trichotillomania, conversion disorder, psychosis.
4. The number of childs that require special managements was 55(45.1£¥). The number of childs that require systematic evaluations was 70(57.4£¥).
